The sea here is known as the Deadly Sea—unnaturally calm on the surface, but treacherous with hidden rocks and unnatural currents. The name "Pale" refers not to the stone, but to the dead—the bleached bones on the shore and the cold fate of those who linger.
Cold, wet, and grey. The cliffs are dark, imposing black rock, stark against beaches of bone-white sand.
